Trout Unlimited – National Organization

At Trout Unlimited, we mobilize people to care for our rivers and help make our water cleaner and our communities healthier.

Founded by anglers in 1959, we still help people who fish channel their passion into meaningful conservation. But we’ve grown well beyond those roots, today we welcome and inspire everyone to be champions for their rivers. From that local group united by their love of wild trout and Michigan’s Au Sable River, we have grown into the nation’s leading conservation organization working to care for and recover rivers and streams and the trout and salmon that call them home.

We are hundreds of staff and more than 300,000 members and supporters: community advocates and volunteer do-ers, conservation professionals and biologists, lawyers and policy pros united by a vision of an America where people care for their rivers, and fish thrive in wild places.

Working together and driven by science, we get big things done. Across the country, we bring people together to care for and recover rivers and fisheries, and in the process, make our communities healthier. We pull down dams and witness salmon returning. We rewild rivers and watch trout rebound. We reconnect streams split by roads and clean up mine pollution. We build coalitions to advocate for wild places and the rivers that run through them. We make water cleaner and more abundant, and landscapes more resilient to wildfire, drought and flood.

It all adds up. As an organization we protect, reconnect and restore thousands of miles each year.

Unlimited impact requires many hands. We don’t do this work alone; we never could. Our volunteers dedicate more than half a million hours of their time each year to our mission. Whether you are passionate about wild and native fish, inspired by the wonder of rivers, or dedicated to clean water, we invite you into our community of committed optimists. Be a champion for the rivers we all love and help unlock the unlimited power of conservation.
